Chennai Super Kings cricketer Suresh Raina will not play IPL 2020 after return home due to “personal reasons”. The franchise has confirmed the development on Twitter.
Raina, who recently announced his retirement from international after MS Dhoni, is the highest scorer for CSK in the IPL with 5,368 runs and second-highest overall after Virat Kohli’s 5,412.
This unfortunate news came a day after several members of the CSK team tested positive for Covid-19 in Dubai. At least 10 members of the CSK support staff have also tested Covid-19 positive, which has forced the entire CSK contingent to undergo a fourth COVID-19 test.
The upcoming IPL season is set to begin on September 19 with Chennai Super Kings taking on defending champions Mumbai Indians in the opening match.
