England beat Pakistan by 5 wickets in the 2nd T201 of the three-match T20I series at Old Trafford in Manchester yesterday. With this victory, they take a 1-0 lead.
Eoin Morgan scored a magnificent half-century as England chased a record target to beat Pakistan. Pakistan, unfortunately, could only score 195/4 on an absolute flat wicket. With an easy sweep, cut crossing all edges on the ground, England won with five balls to spare and took 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Eoin Morgan guided his team’s way to an easy win by scoring a magnificent 66 from 33 balls after openers Tom Banton and Jonny Bairstow got dismissed consecutively. His partnership with Dawid Malan, who was not out for 54, eased England to secure that lead.
Morgan and Dawid Malan’s partnership (54 not out in 36 balls) acted as a catalyst, thereby strengthening their third-wicket partnership as it grew with each over. They finished with 112 in 62 balls.
Pakistan could manage to secure some runs in the top of the order as opener Babar Azam scored a marvellous 56 from 44 balls. Fakhar Zaman scored 36 from 22 balls.
