Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday ordered a CID investigation into the fire that broke out at the Srisailam hydroelectric power plant following an explosion late on Thursday. The mishap killed at least nine people.
News agency PTI quoted Nagarkurnool District Collector as saying that nine people have died in the Srisailam hydel power plant fire mishap. Out of them, seven were employees of the Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited and two were employees of the Amaron Batteries.
As per reports, Additional DGP Govind Singh will head the CID investigation. Previously, three dead bodies of employees of Telangana Power generation company were found. Search for the six others who were feared to be trapped inside the power plant complex was on.
CISF experts along with other officials of the Telangana government are carrying out the search and rescue operations.
The CISF had dispatched a 39 member Fire Rescue and Disaster Management team led by Commandant Siddarth Raha. The team left at 8:35 AM from NISA and covered a 245-km journey to reach the dam fire site at 1 PM. They have played an active role in removing the bodies from the tunnel and controlling the fire and smoke that could cause panic in the nearby regions.
