Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Sabarimala temple re-opens, only 250 pilgrims per day allowed.
The Sabarimala temple Thantri, Kandararu Rajevaru, the Head Priest A K Sudheer Namboothiri re-opened the temple doors for pilgrims to visit from Oct 17 to Oct 21 for the monthly worship. As the management strictly follows the COVID-19 norms, only 250 pilgrims a day are permitted to visit the temple.
Other mandatory norms include a compulsory fitness certificate and COVID 19 negative certificates of the pilgrims which has to be taken 48 hours prior to their visit. Booking for darshan is only through online mode. Pilgrims are not permitted to stay at Sanidhanam and Nilackkalor Pamba.
Except for Vadasserikkara and Erumeli, all the other routes are temporarily closed.
In the presence of Devaswom Board representatives and an observer appointed by Kerala High Court, selection of new Head Priest of Sabarimala Ayappa temple and Malikappuram temple would be held today. Nine priests are shortlisted for the post of Sabarimala Melsanthi. The duration of the post is set to one year which begins from November 15.
