New Delhi: RPF arrested 50 people for operating illegal train ticket booking software ‘Real Mango’ on Tuesday.
After re-opening of IRCTC ticket portal, there was a concern over the increase in ticket touting activity. RPF units of Northern Central Railway, Eastern Central Railway and Western Central Railway found some suspects, immediately the drives against touts were intensified.
Arun Kumar, RPF Director-General said that the investigation revealed that live tickets worth Rs. 5 lakhs have been blocked by the ‘Rare Mango’ or ‘Real Mango’ software which has logged into the IRCTC site through multiple I.Ds. The software auto-filled the passenger details and payment details. They used cryptocurrency which disables the money trails. It synchronized bank OTP with help of a mobile app and fed it to the form automatically and it also bypassed captcha. The software is operated through a five-tiered structure which involves system admins, mavens, super sellers, sellers and agents.
RPF Officials said that now the software has been completely decimated.
