The death toll in the building collapse in Raigad district of Maharashtra rose to 10 on Tuesday afternoon, NDTV reported. Several individuals are feared to be trapped inside while 60 people have been rescued yet.
Rescue operations to save those who are trapped and disposing of the dead bodies have been on for the last 20 hours. The rescuers have rescued five bodies within an hour during the afternoon.
A five-story building in the Kajalpura area at Mahad in Raigad district collapsed on Monday night.
The victims were identified as Sayyed Samir (45), Naveed Zamane (35), Nausin Nadim Bangi (30), and Aadi Hashim Shaiknag (16). Tarique Garden, a victim who succumbed to cardiac arrest while being treated was not a resident of the building. As of now, 78 people have been rescued from the debris.
A five-year-old boy was rescued on Tuesday from the debris almost 19 hours after the building had collapsed. The boy was identified as Mohammad Bangi and was rushed to a nearby hospital by NDRF personnel.
