New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Modi addressing Governor’s NEP-2020 on Monday.
The Prime Minister Office announced that the President Ram Nath Kovind and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the inaugural session of the Governors’ Conference on the National Education Policy-2020 on Monday through a video conference call.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development is organizing the conference on the title of ‘Role of NEP-2020 in Transforming Higher Education’. The P.M office confirms that the conference is also being attended by State Education Ministers of all states, Vice Chancellors of all State Universities.
NEP-2020 is notably the first education policy of the 21st century which is announced after NEP-1986 with a gap of 34 years.
The Ministry of HRD claims that NEP-2020 aimed at reforming the school and higher educational level and directed towards India-centered education system which would transform the country into a global superpower. However, the opposition parties and many educationalists across India criticize the Union Government for not having proper discussions regarding the policy in the Parliament and with the state governments before the sanction of approval of the policy. They also questioned the policy whether it addresses the issues like the affordability of the new education system.
