Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh): The liquor shops are all set to open from today in Andhra Pradesh, Special Chief Secretary to Industries and Commerce Department said.
Prime Minister Modi has announced nationwide lockdown, due to the coronavirus outbreak, till May 17.
As per his announcement, nothing has worked so far. People are maintaining strict social-distancing.
In this scenario, Rajat Bhargava, Special Chief Secretary, held a press meet on Sunday and announced that liquor shops will be open from Monday in Andhra Pradesh, but a prohibition tax will be imposed to discourage people from consuming. At the same time, the liquor shops will be open from 11 am to 7 pm.
He furtherly said that we are taking this decision to measure the revenue. Eventhough our Chief Minister is concern about the people’s health in this disastrous situation so we are imposing prohibition tax to discourage them.
In addition to this, he added that strict social distancing guidelines are imposed. Only five persons will be allowed at a shop at one point of time.
