Dehradun, Uttarakhand: Kumbh Mela, 30-50 Lakh pilgrims could take daily dip in Ganga amid coronavirus.
Madan Kaushik, the Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister, said that during 2021 Maha Kumbh Mela, 30-50 lakh pilgrims are estimated to take daily dip in holy river Ganga.
Kumbh Mela, the largest religious gathering in the world, is held every 12 years in rotation at the four holy places of Haridwar, Allahabad, Ujjain and Nasik. 2021 Maha Kumbh Mela will be held at Haridwar. The bathing dates for this mega event have already been announced. It begins from 14th January 2021.
Speaking to the reporters, Kaushik assured that all the preparations needed to be done by the Government will be completed on time. He also added that the Akharas and Saints will finalise the extent of the Kumbh Mela and added that despite the COVID-19 crisis, its grandeur will be as same as previous years.
In a meeting which was held yesterday to review the preparation of Mela, Uttrakhand Chief Minister, Trivendra Singh Rawat instructed Officials, “ Pay special attention to cleanliness, garbage disposal in Haridwar and Rishikesh should be ensured. Kumbh will be organized in a grand manner, the beautification of the fair area should be completed on time”.
