Mumbai (Maharashtra): Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has shifted the Byculla Zoo animals, including tiger, leopard, hyena, various reptiles and others, into their holding areas at the zoo, due to Cycle Nisarga.
While speaking to ANI, a senior official at the zoo said that Cycle Nisarga is causing damages everywhere. We care about our animals, so we have made the arrangements for as many as 300 animals including reptiles. We will keep them in holding centers until the situation gets normal in the city.
The BMC is all set to keep the animals safe. They informed that they have deployed a 20 member emergency response team which includes animal keeper, security staff in these holding areas to take care of the species.
The administration is also taking steps to safeguard the animals and zoo by providing tree trimming machines and other equipment to the team in order to tackle any untoward incidents.
In addition to all these, CCTV cameras have also been installed to monitor the zoo.
