Actor Irrfan Khan, who is known for his best roles in films like ‘Angrezi Medium’, ‘Hindi Medium’ and ‘Maqbool’ passed away on Wednesday. Doctors said its been longtime the actor had been unwell for a long time. Sources said that earlier this week, he was hospitalised after being diagnosed with colon infection. The last rites of the actor took place in Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon.
The ‘Maqbool’ actor’s medical history says Khan was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour in 2018 and he had lost his mother in Jaipur three days ago. He was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital with a colon infection.
Khan’s spokesperson said to the media that “It’s saddening that this day, we have to bring forward the news of him passing away. Irrfan was a strong soul, someone who fought till the very end and always inspired everyone who came close to him. Surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about, he left for heaven abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own.”
Irfan’s last rites were performed by his sons Babil and Ayan.
A statement released by his family said, “Irrfan was buried at the Versova kabrastan in Mumbai at 3 pm this afternoon soon after the news of his passing away was announced”.
Director Shoojit Sircar paid tribute to him, and said that he “fought and fought”.
