Maharashtra [India]: As the country as a whole continues to struggle against the COVID-19 epidemic, the name of the Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan has been added to the list of renowned personalities who have come forward to give the frontline staff a boost to help them battle the deadly infection.
The ace actor has donated 25,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) kits for the safety of the state’s doctors and healthcare staff to the Maharashtra Health Department.
But, only after the Minister of Public Health and Family Welfare, Maharashtra, Rajesh Tope took to twitter to thank him, did Khan’s generous contribution come to light.
On Monday Tope’s tweet read a lot of thanks, Mr. Shah Rukh Khan, for your kind donation of 25,000 PPE kits. It will go a long way in helping our fight against COVID19 and in protecting our medical staff at the frontline.
In response, Khan thanked the minister for sourcing the kits and added that in this hour of need he stood with all the others. He tweeted that thank you, sir, for all your help in making the kits come out. Through this initiative, we are all together to defend ourselves and humanity. Feeling grateful to be of support.
Besides this, a look at the Twitter profile of the top actor shows that he has been instrumental in reaching out to the authorities and helping to raise the fight against COVID-19 at multiple locations across the country in any way he can.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s official Twitter handle (BMC), a few days ago thanked him and his wife, Gauri Khan, for offering their 4-story personal office space to help extend our quarantine capacity fitted with necessary for quarantined children, women, and elderly people.
Besides this, the owner of the IPL-franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), also pledged to contribute to the PM-CARES Fund and contributed to both Maharashtra and the Relief Fund for the West Bengal Chief Ministers.
