Aryan Gulati, from DPS RK Puram, became the youngest winner of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Ideathon in the Sustainable Environment category. He created a web-based app LungAI which can detect Covid-19 and other lung problems like lung cancer, TB, and pneumonia. The event was conducted by the HRD ministry and was held on 20 June. Aryan will receive prize money of ₹2 lakh and assistance from the government to implement his app on a national level.
How to use the LungAI app?
To use the app, all you need to do is upload a chest X-Ray or a CT scan, and you will get a result within 3-5 seconds with an accuracy of 90%. If the result comes out positive, LungAI will provide treatment information and the location of nearby hospitals.
How does it work?
LungAI uses a combination of six machine learning based detection models who work in tandem to detect not only Covid-19 but also 16 other lung-related ailments. The app also provides an assessment on whether the user is at high, medium, or low risk by recording the user’s medical history and Covid-19 symptoms.
The most interesting thing about this is that Aryan never received any formal Machine Learning or AI training. He trained himself using the vast number of online resources and participating in science fairs.
